Chubby Gray
Watermelon
Origin: United States
Item #: WATERMELON015
The Chubby Gray Watermelon
resembles the Charleston Gray Watermelon, save the fact that it is actually
superior to Charleston Gray. Chubby Gray produces a much higher yield and
produces a very desireable short, blocky watermelon with a gray rind and
large black seeds. Each watermelon weighs approximately 30 pounds and possesses
a beautiful, firm red flesh with a very sweet taste. Some long time watermelon
producers believe that Chubby Gray has a superior taste to even the famous
variety Jubilee and consider the Chubby Gray as more productive.

Crimson
Sweet Watermelon
Origin: United States
Item #: WATERMELON016
The
Crimson Sweet Watermelon was once considered to be the ideal in commercial
watermelons and is still the parent of many modern production. The variety
was originated by Charles V. Hall of Kansas State University and came about
by crossing together the varieties Miles, Peacock and Charleston Gray.
Crimson Sweet Watermelons were first introduced commercially on February
6th, 1963.
Crimson
Sweet is a fine watermelon variety and produces a multitude of round, blocky
shaped watermelons that average about 25 pounds in weight. The variety
is extremely adaptable and can be grown in most areas. The watermelons
are a light green in color with darker green stripes and possess a very
finely textured sweet red flesh with a very high sugar content and small,
dark brown seeds. The variety has a thin, but durable rind and makes an
excellent shipper. In fact, with its excellent shipping qualities, round

the Crimson Sweet Watermelon is one of the very finest open pollinated

Jubilee
Watermelon
Origin: United States
Item #: WATERMELON018
Jubilee
is one of the most popular watermelon varieties grown in the United States
and was introduced in 1963 by the Florida Agricultural Experiment Station.
TheJubilee Watermelon variety was originally created by crossing
together the varieties Africa 8, Iowa Belle, Garrison (Georgia Rattlesnake),
Hawkesbury and Leesburg. Jubilee Watermelons are extremely similar to Garrison
or Georgia Rattlesnake Watermelons which is a watermelon variety developed
in Georgia during the 1880's.
Just
like Georgia Rattlesnake or Garrison, Jubilee produces a large light green
watermelon with very distinct dark green stripes somewhat reminescent of
a rattlesnake's markings. The watermelons are large, averaging about 40
pounds in weight and have a very tough rind that is nearly an inch thick.
Due to its tough, thick rind, Jubilee is an excellent commercial watermelon
and holds up amazingly well during shipping The flesh is a lovely bright
red in color dotted with large black "stipple" marked seeds and has a very
fine texture and a very palatable sweet flavor that is superior to most
other varieties of watermelons.
Jubilee
Watermelons are widely adaptable, which explains its popularity, and grows
very vigorously in warm weather. Read

Mountain
Hoosier Watermelon
Origin: United States
Item #: WATERMELON021
Mountain Hoosier is a very
old heirloom watermelon that is said to date back to the era prior to the
American Civil War. Though no records exist from that period that describe
it under the name, we do know that Mountain Hoosier Watermelons were being
offered commercially in seed catalogs about sixty years later during the
1930's. Whatever the case may be, we do know that Mountain Hoosier Watermelons
have been in existance for at least 70 years and were once very popular
with gardeners in the Mid-Eastern United States.
Mountain Hoosier is a very,
very productive variety that produces very large watermelons. It is in
fact, one of the most productive watermelons that we can recommend to our
customers, with the added bonus that each watermelon will reach 75 to 80
pounds in weight when the weather conditions are favorable. This combination
of great size and great production is very rarely, if ever, seen in other
watermelon varieties, making Mountain Hoosier truly one of a kind!
The large watermelons are of a slightly oblong shape and possess a dark
green rind, making their appearance similar to Florida Giant. The flesh
of the watermelons is of a brilliant red, with a very crisp, fine texture
and a sweet, old fashioned taste. The seeds are large and are white in
color with a black tip. Read
