OrangeGlo
Watermelon (aka. Orange Glo, Orange Glow, OrangeGlow)
Origin: United States
Item #: WATERMELON009
The OrangeGlo Watermelon
is widely regarded as the best of the yellow and orange watermelon varieties
that are being grown today. This delicious watermelon variety features
a very crisp, very sweet and very flavorful bright orange flesh with large
cream colored seeds.
The watermelons themselves
are of a long oval shape similar to the famous variety Georgia Rattlesnake
(aka. Garrison) and features a dark green rind that has darker stripes,
which wind up producing an effect that is similiar to the skin of a rattlesnake.
The rind is very thin, which unfortunately means that the OrangeGlo Watermelon
is very delicate and though it does not crack on the vine, the watermelons
are often easily damaged, so great care must be taken during the harvest
or preparation to avoid splitting or cracking the watermelon. Regrettfully,
due to the variety's delicateness, OrangeGlo has no genuine market value.
Still, OrangeGlo is still often the favorite of long time watermelon farmers
who grow this great tasting variety for their own use at home, while they
use others for the market. Each OrangeGlo Watermelon averages 30 to 50
pounds in weight.
The very vigorous vines are
very productive.
OrangeGlo matures late in
the season, but is well worth the wait! Read

Jubilee
Watermelon
Origin: United States
Item #: WATERMELON018
Jubilee
is one of the most popular watermelon varieties grown in the United States
and was introduced in 1963 by the Florida Agricultural Experiment Station.
TheJubilee Watermelon variety was originally created by crossing
together the varieties Africa 8, Iowa Belle, Garrison (Georgia Rattlesnake),
Hawkesbury and Leesburg. Jubilee Watermelons are extremely similar to Garrison
or Georgia Rattlesnake Watermelons which is a watermelon variety developed
in Georgia during the 1880's.
Just
like Georgia Rattlesnake or Garrison, Jubilee produces a large light green
watermelon with very distinct dark green stripes somewhat reminescent of
a rattlesnake's markings. The watermelons are large, averaging about 40
pounds in weight and have a very tough rind that is nearly an inch thick.
Due to its tough, thick rind, Jubilee is an excellent commercial watermelon
and holds up amazingly well during shipping The flesh is a lovely bright
red in color dotted with large black "stipple" marked seeds and has a very
fine texture and a very palatable sweet flavor that is superior to most
other varieties of watermelons.
Jubilee
Watermelons are widely adaptable, which explains its popularity, and grows
very vigorously in warm weather. Read
