Marglobe Tomato (aka.
Marglobe VF Tomato, Marglobe Supreme Tomato)
The Marglobe Tomato was developed in 1917 by Fred J. Pritchard of the United States Dept. of Agriculture by crossing together the tomato varieties Globe and Marvel, the latter being a European development. The Marglobe (whose name comes from a fusion of its parents names) was formerly released to the public in 1925 and was one of the first tomato varieties resistant to both Verticulum and Fusarium Wilts. As time went on, Marglobe became a very popular tomato variety with tomato canners and was the parent of many new varieties, most notably the famous Rutgers Tomato (see above). Marglobe produces a large crop of smooth, solid fleshed red tomatoes of approximately 6 to 7 ounces in weight. These tomatoes are crack-resistant and are excellent for canning purposes. The vine is determinate, which means that Marglobe has the distinction of producing a very large crop of tomatoes at one time, which makes it excellent as a canner or for market gardeners. Matures early, only 75 days from transplant.

selection of the month Black Krim Tomato Seeds This Russian tomato variety is always one of our top selling varieties of vegetable seeds and hails from the Isle of Krim in the Black Sea to the south of the Republic of Ukraine. Black Tomatoes have been our best selling vegetable seeds for us this year and this one is our best Black Tomatoes! This tomato variety is a medium large sized maroon beefsteak with green shoulders and an intense, unique taste! Ideal for slicing, salads and more. Due to their natural salty taste, sliced Black Krims do not require salting and only a hint of pepper, which makes them an ideal tomato variety for your tomato patch if you can not have salt in your diet. Indeterminate. 70-75 days to maturity.
